  Quilt binding can be challenging and frustrating for all quilters. Either it takes too long or never looks quite right. Either you have trouble joining your ends or your corners are bulky. Have no fear; it is time to learn a new way to bind your quilts. From start to finish, Jenny Kae shares her most-requested technique: machine quilt binding. With just a few tips and tools you will create fast, accurate and beautiful binding. You’ll never dread binding your quilt again!

  I am living the dream! I get to spend my days working with beautiful fabrics, beautiful designs and beautiful people. AND I get to share about something I love.

  I started working at a local quilt shop. Dream job! I was working with colors and fabrics and arrangements all day. Customers ask lots of quilting questions. I guess if you work in a quilt store, they expect you to know how to quilt, go figure. My manger said they needed someone to teach classes! Ohohoh! Pick me! Pick me!

  Then, my manager called me said this fabric company wanted me to film a couple videos showing how to use their fabric. I about fell over!  I thought "YesIWantTo!!!" Then I thought, "Be cool, Jenny, be cool!". I said in a very calm voice, "Yes, I would love to.".

  Start by learning, or being reminded of, some basic hand embroidery stitches while working on a specially designed pre-printed panel and then learn some novel embellishment techniques and trickier stitches.  We'll also discuss choosing and transferring designs for future projects and look at lots of samples.  Enjoy the relaxed tempo and reconnect with handwork!

  
  

  A kit is required for the class.  The kit includes pre-printed sampler, 4 hand dyed threads in 2 weights, embellishments, hand sewing needles, and a full color stitch guide. Kit costs $40 + $7 S&H and is available from Catherine.  Email her: catherine@catherineredford.com to request a kit and get instructions for payment by credit card.  Mention the Pretty in Paisley kit for AQG class.

  Vanessa Fromm from Fabric Confetti is offering her "Line It Up" Zoom class so you can learn how to line up your appliqué letters horizontally one at a time and stitch out the word SEW.  You will be using three of her PeaPod letters.  (The words "OVER IT" can be added after appliqué letters are stitched out.)

  The "Line It Up" method can then be used with any of her alphabet patterns.

  For this hands-on Zoom class you will need to:

  • Prepare your background fabric (or decide if you'd rather put the letters on something else like a tote bag or an apron)
  • Prepare the fabrics for your pillow back if you are making a pillow
  • Download the files for digital download you will be sent for the class
  • Print off the PDF stitch-out sheets included in the download that show the letters and the basting boxes
  • Print off the instructions

  A file download is required for the class.  An optional laser cut template is also available.  The cost of the kit/download is $5 and there is an additional charge for of $4.60 for shipping of the optional laser cut.  Please purchase at the attached link and download the required files before class
