This workshop is an introduction to "Appliqué the Jillily Way".
It is a turned turned-edge appliqué technique in which the seam allowance is prepared around a template using starch and heat before the appliqué is stitched to the background. The result is a smooth, clean edge with no raw fabric showing. It features Jill's new pattern, Around the Town.
This workshop kit includes the option to make just the center block of the quilt (18" x 18" - $50) to learn Jill's appliqué technique or to make the whole quilt which is 52" x 52" ($100). You will learn turned-edge appliqué, how to create bias stems, circles, and how to attach them all to your block and stitching so that none of your stitches show!
Jill will show you how to create the hourglass background in her lecture, and the applique will be taught in class. There is additional piecing for the houses surrounding the center that will all be explained in the pattern for the whole quilt option. The piecing is simple, using traditional techniques.

Jill Finley is the owner and designer behind Jillily Studio. She has been designing quilt patterns for over 30 years and currently designs and sells quilt fabric, patterns, kits and notions. Her quilt designs show off her fresh style using high contrast fabrics and usually have a bit of appliqué to soften and finish each design.
Her designs have appeared in many quilt magazines. She designs fabric for Riley Blake and has designed several thread collections for Aurifil, is a BERNINA Ambassador, and a CutterPillar affiliate.
