Walking Foot Quilting
Design & Technique
Monday, March 16, 2026
9:30 am to 4:30 pm MST (Arizona Time)
$50 for members
It's time to get your stitching out of "the ditch" and learn to enhance your quilt tops with beautiful geometric shapes as well as straight and gently curving lines you can accomplish using a domestic machine with a walking foot!
Learn to create both modern and traditional quilting designs on your domestic machine using only a walking foot in this full-day class. We'll start with the basics of walking foot quilting, then move on to learning to create and combine original designs you can use to enhance pieced, appliqued, and even wholecloth quilt tops. Learn lots of tips and tricks to make walking foot quilting fun, and practice developing unique designs utilizing straight lines, gently curving lines, and even decorative machine stitches if you like.
In the afternoon, put your new skills into practice, creating a small "Walking Foot Quilting Sampler" entirely with walking foot quilting!
This workshop will be held at the
Martin Auto Museum
4320 W Thunderbird Rd
Glendale, AZ 85306
Feel free to bring your lunch or make your own arrangement. We can order lunch from Angie's Prime Grill (located in the parking lot in front of the museum) and one of us can pick up the lunches for everyone. Cost is about $10-20 and covers pretty much every type of diet.
About Wendy Garrison

Wendy Garrison, a long-time resident of Flagstaff, Arizona, began developing a love for sewing and quilting at a young age, and has focused on building her domestic machine quilting skills and personal style for many years. Wendy enjoys teaching various skills to all levels of quilters, and is constantly experimenting with new techniques to share with others. Her work regularly appears in local and regional competitions, earning numerous awards.
Wendy has been an active member of the Coconino Quilters Guild in Flagstaff for almost 15 years and serves on the board as the committee chair for ‘Special Projects” which includes organizing and coordinating the Guild’s annual Quilters’ Estate Sale that generates funds for the group to use for community service activities, programs, education, and general operations. She also occasionally presents lectures, programs and/or classes for her local Guild and others.
She is also a member of the Fiber Artists of Northern Arizona. And, with their support, is learning to weave on a rigid heddle loom. She plans to incorporate some hand woven pieces into future quilted works.
